Dean's Ambassador Program

Participating in this program entails regular discussions with college, including dedicated listening sessions with the NTC Dean. Ambassadors will have opportunities to represent the college, engage in extracurricular activities, and network with NTC alumni.

• Commitment to Service: Foster a culture of giving back by engaging members in meaningful volunteer opportunities that support NTC events, university recruitment, and community outreach initiatives.
• Leadership Development: Equip members with the skills and experiences necessary to become effective leaders through their roles as liaisons between NTC’s Office of the Dean, USG, and Tulane alumni.
• Community Engagement: Strengthen connections within the Tulane community and beyond by promoting collaboration, advocacy, and active participation in civic and university-related activities.
• Professional Growth: Provide opportunities for members to enhance their communication, organizational, and leadership skills while expanding their network and preparing for future endeavors.
• Ambassadorship: Represent NTC with integrity and enthusiasm, serving as a voice for undergraduate education and a bridge between students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Students will commit to a minimum of 10 hours per semester on Ambassador-related projects, fostering a culture of giving back through meaningful volunteer opportunities that support NTC events, university recruitment efforts, and community outreach initiatives.

Candidates aspiring to become Dean's Ambassadors should demonstrate a profound commitment to leadership and service, coupled with genuine enthusiasm for the role. 

• Eligibility is open to Sophomore, Junior, or Senior students maintaining a commendable GPA of 3.0 or higher, while also ensuring good academic and conduct standing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential attributes for potential Ambassadors.
• Ambassadors must commit to a full academic year of service.
• During the selection process, the Dean's office will review each applicant's social media presence, as well as their records related to Student Conduct and Academic Integrity.
• Applicants are required to provide the name and contact information of a campus reference, be it a faculty or staff member.
• A history of volunteerism, leadership, involvement in student organizations, work experience, or similar pursuits are highly valued.
• A commitment to advancing access within Newcomb-Tulane College and the campus community further enhances the candidacy of prospective Dean's Ambassadors.
   

• February 3rd: Dean’s Ambassador application opens.
• March 3rd: Applications close.
• March 24th: Applicants will be selected for interviews.
• March 31st - April 11th: Interviews will take place.
• Week of April 28th: Cohort will be announced.

When to Apply

• Rising Sophomores can apply during their 2nd semester of Freshmen year.
• Rising Juniors can apply during their 2nd semester of Sophomore year.
• Rising Seniors can apply during their 2nd semester of Junior year.

The selection process for Dean's Ambassadors occurs annually, requiring all applicants to submit a comprehensive application, including:

• Unofficial transcript
• Resume
• Cover letter
• Letter of recommendation from a Tulane faculty or staff member

Candidates meeting the established application criteria (who submit a full application) will be extended an interview invitation.

Prospective participants in the Dean's Ambassadors Program are expected to submit a cover letter and resume as part of their application. The cover letter, directed to the Newcomb-Tulane College Dean, should articulate the candidate's interest in the role as outlined in the position description. Applicants should consider the following when writing the letter:

• What encouraged you to apply to become a Dean’s Ambassador?
• What experiences contributed to your candidacy for the Dean’s Ambassador Program?
• What skills and/or qualities will you bring to the role?
• What experience do you have working with or in diverse settings?
• What do you intend to learn from being a Dean’s Ambassador?

Interview format

Candidates will be interviewed by a small committee of current DAP peers. Interviews will be conducted via Zoom in late March or early April, with each session lasting approximately 20 minutes. Applicants are expected to dress in business attire for the interview.
