Biography
Hunter brings many years of experience in marketing, communications, graphic design, web development and event management to Newcomb-Tulane College. His career in higher education began as an undergraduate at Baylor University, where he worked as a Peer Instructor for two years teaching World Cultures I & II and helping first-year students adjust to collegiate life. This role ignited a passion in him. After graduating from Baylor, Hunter earned an M.Ed in Higher Education from the University of Houston while working first as the graduate assistant for marketing and special programs, then as a web developer, then as the marketing manager for all of Student Life.
As the Director of Marketing and Communications at Newcomb-Tulane College, Hunter is able to channel his passion for helping students find a sense of belonging. It can be difficult for students to transition to college, feel welcome in a new space and build meaningful connections with their peers. One of the first hurdles students have to overcome is just ‘not knowing’ about the myriad of opportunities available to students. Through intentional and innovative marketing strategies, Hunter hopes to inform students about all the ways they can get plugged into a community, build lifelong friendships and improve their college experience.
Outside of work, Hunter enjoys spending time with his wife, Katie, and their two dogs, Atlas and Triton. If they’re not out at the dog park or sampling the local breweries, they can be found buried in the latest game from Hunter’s ever-growing board game collection.
