My name is Abigail Huddleston, and I come from Lake Charles, Louisiana. Ever since my very first day at Tulane University, I knew I wanted to dive deep into campus life, and now, as I enter my junior year, my involvement around campus is more extensive than ever. I've embraced multiple leadership roles during my time here, from conducting research at Tulane Medicine and the Louisiana Cancer Research Center, to actively participating in clubs like the School of Science and Engineering Student Government and Alpha Phi Omega, a service fraternity on campus. As a member of the Newcomb Scholars program, I have dedicated countless hours to learning about equality, open leadership, and my role in my community, both within Tulane’s campus and beyond. I have never been someone to shy away from a challenge and have always let my passion drive me. As a double major in Biomedical Engineering and Neuroscience, I have faced plenty of challenges, but my love for Tulane has only grown since attending. Despite a packed schedule, I make time to enjoy the wonderfully unique city of New Orleans. Whether I'm walking dogs with Zeus’s Rescues or checking out the incredible local restaurants, this city has truly become my second home. As a Louisiana resident, it is crucial that I give back to the state that has given me so much, and through my work as the Founder of a nonprofit organization, Collegecounselor.co, I hope to serve students just like myself, who care deeply about having accessible higher education in Louisiana. As a leader, I have learned to listen actively to others, bring together diverse groups of people, and work towards common goal, while maintaining empathy and fairness. A good leader seeks to understand what people need to succeed and strives to provide that, enhancing the community in the process. Having represented the University in so many varying ways, from serving as a Wave Leader to being a Peer Wellness Representative, I've had the chance to support both new and returning students and interact with families and alumni. These experiences have enriched my understanding of our community and have driven me to pursue the challenge of being a Dean’s Ambassador. As an eager student who is so grateful for all this University has given to me, being given the opportunity to represent the diverse and dynamic student body of Tulane is an honor. By engaging fully, caring genuinely, and participating actively, I hope to be a true reflection of our unique and vibrant university, and move with Tulane towards an even better future.
