Impact Statement
The TU Thrive program is committed to fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment where all students, including those who are first-generation or from limited-income backgrounds, can thrive both academically and personally. TU Thrive seeks to ensure that students are immersed in an environment of holistic support that cultivates a growth mindset throughout their academic journey. The program recognizes the unique challenges some students may face and is dedicated to providing the resources, relationships and opportunities that empower them to succeed, connect and contribute meaningfully to the Tulane and New Orleans communities.
This initiative, a collaboration between Newcomb-Tulane College (NTC), the Division of Enrollment Management and the Division of Student Affairs, provides comprehensive academic and personal development resources from deposit day on May 1 through graduation and beyond. By centering the unique needs of these students, TU Thrive fosters a supportive educational environment, strengthens student persistence to degree attainment and promotes connections within the university community — ensuring students have the tools to achieve their aspirations.
Who Are TU Thrive Scholars?
TU Thrive scholars include students who may benefit from additional, coordinated support as they navigate their college experience. This includes:
- First-generation college students (students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not complete a four-year college degree).
- Students who receive need-based grants and scholarships.
- Some students who qualify for federal, state or institutional need-based financial aid, such as Louisiana Promise, Pell Grants or Tulane need-based awards.
- Students who identify with multiple of the categories above.
- Additional students who may benefit from structured academic support based on their transition to Tulane and early academic indicators.
