Melissa Hernandez

Melissa is a senior majoring in neuroscience on the pre-med track, with a minor in Latin American studies. She is originally from New Orleans and loves working with local organizations, such as Puentes New Orleans, ECCO and Luke's House Clinic. On campus, she is the Posse NOLA 15 mentor and also serves as the President of TU Gente. Outside of school, she loves going to the movie theater and spending time with her cat and little brother. She is very excited to support students through their first year of college and continue working with the Posse community.

Favorite Thing About TU: Being a part of the student organization TU Gente. She found a great community through this organization which has allowed her to develop her leadership skills.

Tips for Foundation Scholars: Always prioritize your personal wellbeing and mental health. Look for mentors that share your similar experiences and never be afraid to ask for advice.
