Biography

Jimmy is the Assistant Dean, Academic Student Support, at NTC. He oversees the four units directly involved in providing academic support services to all Tulane University undergraduate students: College Academic Advising, Athletics Advising, Success Coaching, and the Academic Learning and Tutoring Center (ALTC). Jimmy comes to NTC after a 25-year career at Tulane's Stone Center for Latin American Studies, where he served as an Administrative Associate Professor and as the Director of Graduate Studies. Jimmy is a New Orleans native and first-generation college student whose entire career has been dedicated to making Tulane University a welcoming and comfortable space for all students. At Tulane, he has also served as a Mentor to two cohorts of Posse Scholars, as the Center for Public Service's Faculty Seminar Director and Public Service Scholars Director, and as a Residential Faculty Mentor. Jimmy earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Latin American Studies from Tulane University.
