Big/Little Mentoring Program
The OFS Big/Little Program launched in fall 2025 with five incredible peer mentors. This program creates leadership opportunities for upper‑level OFS students to mentor and support first‑year scholars in their scholarship programs. Peer mentoring plays a key role in helping students transition successfully into college life. The program aims to provide peer‑led support that fosters community, helps first‑year students adjust to life at Tulane and complements the guidance they receive from faculty mentors and the OFS team.
The Big/Little Mentoring Program
To be considered for this role, students must meet the following qualifications:
- Sophomore, junior or senior scholar in an OFS cohort.
- In good standing with the university with a 2.3 GPA or higher.
- Strong communicators, dependable and invested in student success.
All OFS "bigs" are required to:
- Foster community and connection by sharing campus resources and opportunities.
- Support your cohort’s faculty mentor in planning and coordinating engaging events.
- Meet one-on-one with mentees and attend check-ins with the OFS team.
- Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for new scholars through fun group activities.
OFS "bigs" receive a $1,000 stipend, distributed across the fall and spring semesters. Stipend eligibility is based on maintaining good standing within the program and meeting the outlined expectations.
Please check back for more details on the next round of applications. In the application, you’ll be asked to share more about your interests, experiences and goals as a mentor. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in a brief interview before the start of the fall semester.
