Start Date: Wednesday October 28th 2:00 pm - 3:45 pm
Description:

Join leaders from the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS) for an engaging and informative session highlighting engineering and service-based career pathways within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Participants will hear directly from the Assistant Director, Chief of Engineering, Chief of Biomedical Services, and Chief of Voluntary Service, who will share insights into:

How Engineering Service supports a complex healthcare environment through facilities operations, infrastructure planning, medical equipment management, and systems reliability. The interdisciplinary nature of engineering roles within a federal healthcare system including civil, mechanical, electrical, biomedical, environmental engineering, data analytics, systems improvement, and project management. Real world applications of engineering principles in supporting patient care, safety standards, emergency preparedness, capital planning, and technology integration. Opportunities for students to engage with the VA through internships, volunteer pathways, and early career workforce development programs.
