Biography
Cathy Marques serves as the Assistant Dean of Academic Initiatives and Policy at Newcomb-Tulane College (NTC), where she leads efforts to advance academic initiatives, promote curricular innovation and strengthen a policy infrastructure that supports undergraduate education. In this role, she works collaboratively with faculty, staff and campus partners to ensure that the undergraduate experience remains transformative, intellectually engaging and responsive to the evolving needs of students. Her work focuses on fostering academic excellence, supporting student success and developing policies and programs that enhance learning opportunities across the College.
Originally from New Jersey, Cathy earned a bachelor's degree in political science and Spanish from Davidson College and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University.
Prior to joining NTC, Cathy worked in various roles and functional areas within higher education with a focus on promoting student success, including residence life, college access and student orientation. A proud first-generation college graduate, Cathy is passionate about creating high-impact learning experiences that empower and support students through college.
Outside of work, Cathy enjoys traveling, hiking and spending time with friends and family.
