Our Mission
Newcomb-Tulane College (NTC) is committed to ensuring students thrive in a welcoming and inclusive environment. It is important that our students have equitable access to opportunities to excel academically and the resources needed to take full advantage of any opportunity during their academic journey. Our operating principles include embracing diversity and fostering equity in each initiative at NTC. Our academic community is strongest when each member is empowered to thrive, while supporting the multifaceted staff who guide and mentor an inclusive Tulane student body.
Welcome from Monique M. Hodges, M.L.A

As the Assistant Dean for EDI, Administration, and Special Projects at Newcomb-Tulane College (NTC), my role works in tandem with the Dean and NTC's Leadership Team to provide overarching strategy and support to the college.
My responsibilities include ensuring NTC’s Strategy for Tomorrow plan (a university-wide strategic 5-year plan) guides the college's EDI, and anti-racism work to create a holistic campus where everyone feels a sense of belonging. This includes delivering EDI training programs, professional development opportunities, cultural sensitivity, conflict resolution and mediation, and implicit bias training, as well as coordinating NTC’s Affinity groups and EDI subcommittees.
I remain dedicated to teaching, learning, and supporting change within our social systems to not only move inclusion forward but to also share the importance of cultural competency, and EDI excellence in research, teaching, and service, and to create climates where everyone can succeed.
NTC welcomes the opportunity to partner and collaborate with campus and community members to address racism, and barriers that prohibit student, faculty, and staff success, as well as instilling EDI values into the work of the college.

Juan Novoa Zubiria
(she/he/fae)
As a Graduate Assistant for Newcomb-Tulane Dean’s Office, Juan works with the Assistant Dean for EDI on the College's Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives. Juan is currently a second-year graduate student in the Business School and completed the first year of their master's program in Hangzhou, China, and was exposed to a completely different environment. While in China, Juan adopted values of empathy, and open-mindedness which allowed Juan to navigate through many cultures and countries and make long-lasting friendships without having to give up their identity. As a queer non-binary individual from an ethnically unrepresented minority group, Juan is passionate about Equity Diversity, and Inclusion. He is currently researching how Artificial intelligence can improve Equity Diversity Inclusion Practices.

NTC Racial Equity and Cultural Competence Staff Committee
The Racial Equity and Cultural Competence Committee (RECCC) works to review the overall culture of NTC and how it affects BIPOC staff and students, especially those who hold multiple marginalized identities.
