NTC Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Here at Newcomb-Tulane College we are committed to ensuring that our students thrive in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Our students must have equity of access to opportunities to excel academically and to the resources they need to take full advantage of those opportunities. Our operating principles of embracing diversity and fostering equity are the bedrock of each office and initiative at Newcomb-Tulane College. We promote and support our diverse and multifaceted staff who in turn support, guide and mentor all students, particularly BIPOC, LGBTQ, first-generation, and other underrepresented undergraduates. Our academic community is strongest when each member is empowered to thrive and we grow together.

EDI in Action

All undergraduate students are required to complete a Race and Inclusion course as part of the Core Curriculum requirements
The Center for Academic Equity serves as a hub for EDI initiatives for both Newcomb-Tulane College and the larger Tulane community
Every February, Newcomb-Tulane College transforms Cudd Hall into a Mardi Gras float with educational exhibits about the history and traditions surrounding this cherished New Orleans holiday
Tulane students can study abroad as part of the African Diaspora Program through the Center for Global Education
Incoming students participate in the Reading Project, which features a novel or non-fiction book about the intersection of diverse topics and experiences
The Center for Global Education offers multiple scholarships to help students with financial needs to off-set the cost of studying abroad
The Center for Global Education offers individualized support for international students and English coursework for those who need assistance
The Office of Academic Enrichment and the Center for Academic Equity have partnered on the ASPIRE program, which helps to develop a pathway to medicine for underrepresented students
The Office of Academic Enrichment offers cultural immersion programming to educate students about the cultural, historical, economic, and physical landscapes of New Orleans
The Center for Global Education offers robust academic programming for international undergraduate students to promote cross cultural awareness
The Office of Study Abroad's "Global Perspectives Series" hosts 'Black Lives Matter in a Global Context' virtual event
All students studying abroad engage in a mandatory personal identity-based intercultural predeparture conference prior to study abroad
The Center for Global Education hosts International Education Week each year to highlight and celebrate the benefits of international exchange in higher education
