The Myrna and John H. Daniels Fund supports programs for undergraduate students that promote the music, culture, and heritage of New Orleans. The Daniels fund allows Newcomb-Tulane College to create programming that introduces students to New Orleans beyond the surface, and helps students build an intentional framework for understanding the cultural, historical, economic, and physical landscapes of our city.
For the 2021-2022 academic year, the Daniels fund will support several New Orleans-focused programs for undergraduate students. In partnership with the Newcomb Department of Music, Newcomb-Tulane College co-sponsors the Thursday Night Jazz concert series, featuring local New Orleans musicians playing our heritage musical artform. Sophomore and senior students are invited to attend Lagniappe events scheduled throughout the semester, with small group excursions to New Orleans restaurants, museums, walking tours, natural areas, lectures, and more. Finally, the Daniels fund allows Newcomb-Tulane College to support projects and events in partnership with departments across the Tulane campus with the goal of highlighting the unique locale of our university.
