Lagniappe
Lagniappe is an old Creole word for "a little something extra." The Lagniappe program adds "something extra" to the Tulane experience by introducing students to the unique music and culture of New Orleans. Lagniappe's cornerstone event is a free concert each fall by legendary jazz musician and educator Ellis Marsalis. Lagniappe also presents Jazz at the Rat, a series of informal concerts at the LBC's Der Rathskeller, familiarly known as "The Rat." Jazz at the Rat features outstanding New Orleans musicians, often accompanied by students and faculty from Tulane's Jazz Studies Program.

Big/Little Brother Program
Freshmen have questions. Big Brothers have answers. Before fall orientation,
incoming freshmen are matched with upperclassmen who share their academic interests.
These experienced Tulanians serve as an invaluable source of information about
courses, professors, and campus life. In the spring, the college hosts a Big/Little
Brother Reunion along with the Newcomb Institute's Big/Little
Sisters.
The Newcomb-Tulane College Lecture
The Newcomb-Tulane College Lecture is an annual program that brings a prominent public figure to campus to speak on a timely subject. The program allows undergraduates the opportunity to hear from some of the great minds of our time, in the hope that students will be inspired toward a greater level of engagement with the world around them. Speakers will be chosen from a wide variety of disciplines, with the goal of rotating through the arts, the humanities, the social sciences and the sciences over the course of every four years.
