Biography

Dr. Diana is a Professor in the Department of Health Policy and Management of Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He holds the Drs. W. C. Tsai and P. T. Kung Professorship in Health Systems Management and is jointly appointed to the Department of Anesthesiology in the School of Medicine. Dr. Diana received his Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) and PhD in Health Services Organizations & Research from Virginia Commonwealth University, and he received his BS in Respiratory Care and MBA with a Graduate Certificate in Health Care Management from Shenandoah University. Dr. Diana’s experience in health care dates back over 40 years.

Dr. Diana’s primary research interest is the relationship between health information systems and other organizational interventions and organizational outcomes, particularly patient safety and quality, but also financial and efficiency-related outcomes. Most of this work has been conducted in hospitals. He was the Principle Investigator (PI) on the evaluation of Medicaid Expansion in Louisiana and is the PI for the evaluation of the Healthy Louisiana Opioid Use Disorder/Substance Use Disorder Section 1115 Medicaid waiver.

In his spare time, he enjoys cooking and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
