emThe New York Times/em calls New Orleans native Courtney Bryan a pianist and composer of panoramic interests. Currently serving as an assistant professor in the Newcomb Department of Music at Tulane, Bryan previously was appointed as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of African American Studies at Princeton University. Her compositions, ranging from jazz and experimental music to gospel and spirituals, have been presented at Lincoln Center in New York City, the National Gallery of Art, and Bethany and Abyssinian Baptist Churches, to name a few. She will perform the works of Geri Allen, the influential jazz pianist, educator, and Guggenheim Fellowship recipient who passed away in June /

Jazz at the Rat is a series of live concerts held on selected Thursday evenings at City Diner (a.k.a. Der Rathskeller or The Rat) at Tulane. Each edition features performances by jazz legends and rising stars, including visiting artists and New Orleans-based musicians, accompanied by students and faculty from Tulane#39;s jazz studies program.nbsp;nbsp; br /
